Birds Nests are a common problem for properties with chimneys. If you find you have a problem with this then Chimney Sweep North Devon have the solution. (Please note if birds are actively nesting we WILL NOT sweep your chimney. There are rules concerning this.)
Get the correct cowl fitted. One which keeps the rain and birds out
Nests are a potential danger for several reasons:
a) Blocked chimneys can cause a build up of Carbon Monoxide (CO2) which can KILL you. It is a 'Silent Killer' - you cannot see, smell or taste it and the fumes can back down the blocked chimney DO NOT THINK IT " CAN'T HAPPEN TO ME" because it COULD!
b) Nests can be a fire hazard. A dry nest can ignite if the fire is lit damaging any liner and the basic fabric of your chimney.
c) Nests can carry Salmonella.
IT'S SIMPLE . . . A cowl is a much cheaper option than constantly having your chimney swept.
